Staying in first person here, during my time at UCF I was fortunate enough to be a teaching assistant under the late Walter Gaudnek, before graduating with a B.A. in Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management.
My pieces are inspirationally downstream from the talents of artists like Édouard Riou, Gustave Doré and Franz Roh- especially on the subject matters which their skills were employed to express.
Lately I've been reducing elements to just light and shadow, which although narrows visual contrasts also deepens them. I try to make things from an exclamatory basis, not an ornamentative one, because it's expressivity- not decoration, that heightens art to the fulfillment of its stature.
My process is a sort of inward cartography that gives form to motifs roiling around in pre-conscious space, and doing so hinges on sensitivity and refinement.
