Staying in first person here, during my time at UCF I was fortunate enough to be a teaching assistant under the late Walter Gaudnek, before graduating with a B.A. in Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management.
My pieces are inspirationally downstream from the talents of artists like Édouard Riou, Gustave Doré and Franz Roh- especially on the subject matters which their skills were employed to express.
Lately I've been reducing contrasting elements to just light and shadow, which although narrows the distinctive elements, also deepens them. My pursuits are from an exclamatory drive rather than an ornamentative one, because it's not decoration, but expressivity that heightens art to the fulfillment of its stature.
My process is a sort of inward cartography that gives form and sinew to motifs roiling around in pre-conscious space, which is summated by two key things: sensitivity and refinement.
