Staying in first person here, during my time at UCF I was fortunate enough to be a teaching assistant under the late Walter Gaudnek, before graduating with a B.A. in Visual Arts and Emerging Media Management.
My things are inspirationally downstream from talents like Édouard Riou, Gustave Doré and Franz Roh- especially on the subject matters they were employed to express.
Lately I've been reducing elements to just light and shadow, which although narrows the palette of distinctions, also deepens them. It's a worthwhile exchange for the time being. I try to make things from an exclamatory basis, not an ornamentative one- because it's expressivity that wrings out the juices, not decoration.
My process is refining a sort of inward cartography that gives form to the motifs roiling around in pre-conscious space. To me, that summates art in its entirety.
